Downloading and Installing Microsoft 365 (Office Apps)

This guide explains how to download and install Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other available Office applications on Windows and macOS.



Before you begin: Ensure you have your APIIT Microsoft 365 account credentials.


1. Sign in to Microsoft 365


  1. Visit https://portal.office.com/
  2. Click Sign in.
  3. Enter your APIIT email address and password.
  4. Complete any additional verification steps if prompted.


2. Install Microsoft 365 on Windows


  1. Navigate to My Account and select Install Office.
  2. Open the downloaded OfficeSetup.exe file from your Downloads folder.
  3. Click Yes if prompted and wait for the installation to complete.
  4. Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint and sign in with your APIIT account to activate Office.


3. Install Microsoft 365 on macOS


  1. Visit https://portal.office.com/ and sign in.
  2. Navigate to My Account and select Install Office.
  3. Open the downloaded .pkg installer from your Downloads folder.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  5. Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint and sign in with your APIIT account to activate Office.

4. Troubleshooting


  • Install Office option unavailable: Your account may not have the required licence. Contact the APIIT IT Department.
  • Unable to sign in: Verify your APIIT account credentials.
  • Activation issues: Ensure your account has the appropriate Microsoft 365 licence.
  • Installation fails: Check your internet connection, available storage, and operating system compatibility.
  • Office already installed: Open an Office application and sign in with your APIIT account.
